  • National Occupational Standards
New website: UK government-backed framework for trades and professions. The search engine now delivers only individual documents which aren't themselves linked back to occupations, organisations or suites of standards.
  • Go to the NOS Search page for the index to occupations, the successor organisations to the Sector Skills Councils, and the skills Suites
  • e-skills uk maintains frameworks for IT
  • The link to their NOS frameworks page is hidden at the foot of the page
  • Look for the NOS for IT/Telecoms Professionals and the NOS for IT Users (PDF downloads, last updated 2009)
  • There is also the IT Skills Academy launched in 2012. Look there for
  • IT Professional Profile, a much simplified model enabling users to gain a quick review of their level of capability
  • The British Computer Society offers a range of tools and resources for personal professional development. Members have access to a full Continuing Professional Development programme (*10 Apr 2013)
  • The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) is an ongoing joint development by BCS, IET, IMIS and e-skills UK. Unlike the others it aims to be reasonably self contained, going up to senior management level
  • Many former agencies providing ICT skills frameworks in specific sectors have been wound up, including Becta and the Training & Development Agency for Schools
  • The Management Standards Centre provides NOS and standards for management skills
  • Open Group Certifications cover a subset of IT competencies
